Unpad Professor Claims Party Leader Implicated in Prabowo Wiretapping Probe
JAKARTA — Muradi, a political science professor at Padjadjaran University (Unpad), has claimed that the head of a major political party is facing suspect status in an ongoing investigation into the illegal wiretapping of President Prabowo Subianto.
Speaking on the latest developments surrounding the high-profile national security probe, Muradi stated that while he refrained from identifying the individual by name, the suspect leads a long-established, prominent political party.
”The individual is a chairman of a major political party that has been around for a long time,” Muradi noted, adding that the figure’s ascension to party leadership was previously bolstered by political backing from former President Joko Widodo.
Alleged Role in Evidence Tampering
According to Muradi, the party chairman did not execute the wiretapping operations directly. Instead, the figure is alleged to have participated in discussions concerning the removal and destruction of physical and digital evidence prior to law enforcement actions.
The disclosure introduces a volatile political layer to a probe that initially centered on high-ranking security officials and police intelligence operatives.
Burden of Legal Proof
Muradi emphasized that validating these claims remains the sole responsibility of investigators at the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri).
To secure a formal indictment, state prosecutors must establish a direct link between the intercepted intelligence and its potential use for political leverage or obstruction of justice. Without forensic proof establishing custody and criminal intent, the allegations remain subject to ongoing validation by law enforcement.
