Progress Report: Sumatra Strategic Infrastructure (Week 4)
Strategic Highlights: Restoring the National Backbone
The joint task force reported significant breakthroughs in bridge engineering, with 11 Bailey bridges now connecting river spans of up to 180 meters. In terms of road networks, West Sumatra has achieved a 100% functional rate for both roads and bridges, while Aceh and North Sumatra are entering the final stages of repairing the remaining 8 disconnected points.
Prioritizing Human Welfare: Temporary Housing and Clean Water
Beyond structural repairs, Seskab Teddy emphasized that the construction of temporary housing (hunian sementara) and the provision of clean water have become the primary focus moving forward. This phase relies heavily on the “Gotong Royong” spirit between residents, volunteers, the TNI, and Ministry personnel.
