The Tanah Abang Baru Station boasts a futuristic design and modern urban architecture, representing one of PT KAI’s significant revitalization projects that aligns with the government’s vision to enhance urban connectivity infrastructure.
President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated the Tanah Abang Baru Station in Jakarta on Tuesday, Nov. 4, marking a significant advancement in improving national public transportation, especially in the densely populated Greater Jakarta area.
The President arrived at the station via the KRL commuter train from Manggarai Station. He was warmly welcomed by passengers who were waiting for him. As he toured the revitalized platforms and station facilities.
In his address, he emphasized that the station reflects the government’s commitment to providing integrated, safe, comfortable, and affordable public transportation. “Railways and all mass transit systems are vital to modern life. Indonesian trains carry up to 486 million passengers annually,” he stated.
Transport Minister Dudy Purwaghandi reported that the Tanah Abang Baru Station is one of the busiest transport hubs in the Greater Jakarta area. “The station has been operational gradually since June 2025. It now serves five major KRL routes: Kampung Bandan, Rangkas Bitung, Duri, Tangerang, and Manggarai–Bogor–Cikarang. The daily capacity has increased from 141,000 to 380,000 passengers,” said the minister.
The Tanah Abang Baru Station boasts a futuristic design and modern urban architecture, representing one of PT KAI’s significant revitalization projects that aligns with the government’s vision to enhance urban connectivity infrastructure.
