JAKARTA — Sukamta, Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), expressed deep condolences on Sunday, September 13, 2026, over the deaths of three Jayawijaya Agriculture Office employees killed in Muliama District, Highland Papua, while calling on law enforcement to dismantle the broader supply networks behind the attack.
The victims were targeted by armed insurgent groups while delivering agricultural support and food security programs to rural indigenous communities.
Sukamta, a senior lawmaker from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), emphasized that state security strategy must evolve beyond identifying immediate shooters:
- Comprehensive Network Investigation: Security agencies must investigate the planners, arms suppliers, and logistics networks supporting armed insurgent groups (KKB).
- Countering Terror Strategies: Targeted attacks on non-combatant public servants indicate an increasing reliance on fear and intimidation to maintain territorial influence, which state authorities must actively neutralize.
- Enhanced Intelligence & Protection: Government authorities are urged to strengthen early detection mechanisms, intelligence gathering, and field security for public servants in high-risk sectors including agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure.
”The state has a strict obligation to protect every citizen, especially those tasked with bringing development and food security to Papua,” Sukamta stated, stressing that public service delivery must continue alongside robust civilian protection frameworks.
