Navigating land certificates in Indonesia is notoriously headache-inducing, but getting eight people lined up for a free set of handcuffs from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) takes dedication to a whole new level!
On Tuesday (15/9/2026), the KPK officially named eight suspects in a high-profile bribery investigation involving Building Use Rights (HGB) permits in Bogor Regency. The lineup is a complete package: a top executive from a major property developer, senior land ministry officials, and a politician who seems to hold a permanent VIP membership at the anti-graft agency’s headquarters.
The Orange Vest Lineup: From Summarecon’s CEO to KPK ‘Regulars’
The scene at KPK headquarters as the suspects were escorted to detention vans was quite the spectacle:
- Adrianto Pitojo Adhi (President Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk): At the very back of the line, the top chief of the property giant looked resigned in a grey shirt under an orange detention vest. Attempting to dodge camera flashes, he hid his face behind a red vest. He may run a publicly listed real estate empire, but when it comes to land permits, old-school bribes were apparently still the shortcut of choice.
- Lampri (Director General of Land and Spatial Control and Discipline at the ATR/BPN Ministry): Despite holding a title centered on “control and discipline,” he ended up doing the exact opposite. Tasked with keeping land permits orderly, he chose instead to pocket his share of the pie.
- Sontang Coin Manurung (Head of Bogor Regency Land Office): As the local land office chief, he held the key to administrative approvals. Unfortunately, that key ultimately unlocked the door to a KPK detention cell.
- Fahd El Fouz (Golkar Party Politician): A familiar face at KPK headquarters. This latest indictment marks a hat-trick—his third time being named a suspect by anti-corruption investigators. Talk about consistency!
When Property Permits Run on Bribe Grease
This case shines a harsh spotlight on how lucrative land deals remain around the national capital’s buffer zones. Rather than braving red tape and official channels, backroom deals lubricated with cash remain an irresistible temptation for developers and bureaucrats alike.
Yet, no matter how wealthy the developer or how powerful the land official, the curtain eventually comes down. Now, instead of cutting ribbons for shiny new residential clusters, this crew will be practicing prison etiquette together in KPK custody!
