JAKARTA — Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Tuesday formally approved Destry Damayanti as the Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) for the 2026–2031 term, consolidating leadership at the central bank amid efforts to maintain monetary stability and economic growth.
The decision was finalized during the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 2026–2027 Legislative Session at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta. Alongside the governor’s appointment, lawmakers confirmed Aida S. Budiman as Senior Deputy Governor and Solikin M. Juhro as Deputy Governor.
The endorsement follows a series of fit-and-proper tests conducted by House Commission XI, which oversees finance and banking, concluding on Thursday, August 27. The parliamentary panel reached its decision through consensus after evaluating the candidates’ professional records, technical capacity, and policy vision for the central bank.
”Through deliberation and consensus, Commission XI approved and established Destry Damayanti as the Governor of Bank Indonesia for the 2026–2031 period,” said Fauzi Amro, Deputy Chairman of Commission XI, during the reporting session.
Speaker of the House Puan Maharani presided over the plenary vote, securing unanimous approval from attending lawmakers. Muhammad Misbakhun, Chairman of Commission XI, noted that the refreshed leadership team is expected to drive a more focused and structured execution of central bank mandates.
With parliamentary approval secured, the nominations now proceed to executive endorsement per statutory regulations. The incoming leadership will be tasked with safeguarding rupiah stability, maintaining payment system resilience, and supporting national economic performance over the next five years.
