WEST LOMBOK, Indonesia — Tourist arrivals in West Lombok Regency via the Senggigi Maritime Port have surged dramatically, providing a major boost to the regional hospitality sector ahead of the upcoming MotoGP Mandalika 2026 event at the Mandalika International Circuit in Central Lombok.
Agus Gunawan, Head of the Tourism, Creative Economy, Youth, and Sports Office (Disparekrafpora) of West Lombok, stated that fast boat operations connecting Bali and surrounding islands directly to Senggigi have expanded from just three daily trips to 14 daily trips, solidifying West Lombok’s role as a primary supporting buffer zone for West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) tourism.
The increased maritime connectivity is directly impacting local accommodation providers across the Senggigi and Kerandangan corridors:
- Fast Boat Frequency Expansion: Daily fast boat operations at Senggigi Port escalated from 3 trips to 14 trips, significantly widening maritime tourist access.
- Maritime Arrival Dominance: Local hotel General Managers confirmed that approximately 85 percent of staying guests in Senggigi and Kerandangan now arrive via fast boat routes, with the remaining 15 percent entering via air travel.
- Strategic Maritime Hub: Senggigi Port now serves as a key sea gateway alongside West Lombok’s larger deep-water facilities at Gili Mas Port and Lembar Port.
Local officials and hotel operators remain optimistic that the expanded maritime access will maintain high hotel occupancy rates across West Lombok throughout the international racing event season.
