MATARAM, Indonesia — The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provincial government is urging domestic and international airlines to expand flight capacity to Lombok ahead of the upcoming MotoGP Mandalika 2026, aiming to accommodate surging passenger demand and curb soaring ticket prices.
NTB Governor Dr. H. Lalu Muhamad Iqbal announced that the provincial administration has formally requested air carriers to introduce extra flights and deploy wide-body aircraft along high-density routes connecting Lombok to major national transit hubs.
In response to the provincial appeal, major carriers—including Garuda Indonesia, Pelita Air, Citilink, Lion Air, and AirAsia—have agreed to scale up seat inventory and schedule supplementary departures leading up to the race weekend.
To prevent severe post-race congestion at Lombok International Airport, provincial authorities have also requested airlines to implement late-night departures, allowing spectators to leave seamlessly after the main event concludes.
