MATARAM, Indonesia — West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal hosted the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to Indonesia, H.E. Mohamed Trabelsi, at the Governor’s Office in Mataram on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, to finalize cross-sectoral economic, educational, and tourism investment partnerships.
To ensure seamless capital entry and regulatory compliance, the NTB Provincial Government is deploying NTB Capital, a regional state-owned holding company, to serve as a single-window business assistance and licensing partner for Tunisian investors.
The high-level bilateral meeting established several key cooperation channels:
- Integrated Investment Assistance: Deployment of NTB Capital to streamline licensing, joint ventures, and business facilitation for incoming Tunisian enterprises.
- Global Educational Scholarships: Securing 80 international scholarship slots for Indonesian students alongside student exchange initiatives connecting Tunisia and NTB.
- Medical & Maritime Research: Exploring collaborative research in tropical medicine and maritime healthcare systems between academic institutions.
- Tourism & Human Resources: Developing strategic partnerships in destination management following Ambassador Trabelsi’s direct site visits to premier Lombok destinations, including Senggigi, Gili Trawangan, Gili Kendis, Gili Kondo, and Sembalun.
Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal emphasized that the partnership moves beyond formal diplomacy to deliver concrete economic development and employment opportunities for local communities across West Nusa Tenggara.
